Attorney Laurin Davis Hamilton
MEET MISSISSIPPI PERSONAL INJURY LAWYER LAURIN DAVIS HAMILTON
Laurin Davis Hamilton grew up in Jackson, Mississippi, graduating from Forest Hill High School in 1992. Laurin then attended the University of Southern Mississippi where she received a Bachelor of Arts degree. In 1998, Laurin began working as a general litigation paralegal. In this position, Laurin played an integral “behind the scenes” role in various aspects of litigation and learned the ins and outs of insurance defense, trucking cases, and products liability law.
In 2003, Laurin decided to further her legal career and began law school at Mississippi College School of Law. During law school, Laurin juggled motherhood of her oldest daughter while also handling school work, clerking at large firms in downtown Jackson, and being chosen for the law school’s Moot Court Board as well as a national competition team.
Following law school, Laurin accepted a position as an associate attorney at a large regional defense firm and gained experience in all aspects of litigation and appellate work. Laurin handled asbestos, drug and medical device, personal injury, products liability, sexual harassment, and other matters, and she represented corporations, hospitals, state agencies, and insurance companies. Laurin traveled throughout the state of Mississippi and the country, successfully arguing motions and briefs in state and federal courts and deposing witnesses in cases with considerable financial exposure.
As Laurin’s career progressed, she became increasingly disillusioned with defense work, empathizing with the plaintiffs in the cases she handled. Despite receiving accolades and successful outcomes, Laurin lacked fulfillment in aiding corporations and, instead, longed to help real people with real problems.
Laurin vividly recalls the final catalyst in shifting her legal career . . . . In a wrongful death case, Laurin took the deposition of a woman who had lost her husband to mesothelioma, a deadly cancer caused by asbestos exposure. Sitting directly opposite of a woman testifying about a devastating loss, Laurin became emotional and had to excuse herself to hide her tears. Laurin knew then she was sitting on the wrong side of the table.
Laurin left the world of defense litigation and ultimately began practicing family law. Laurin eventually opened her own law firm and passionately assisted many individuals as they grappled with loss, transitioned their families, and navigated difficult life experiences.
All the while, Laurin watched her husband, Kevin Hamilton, fight for injured clients, battling the type of insurance companies Laurin herself used to defend. Laurin chose to join The Hamilton Law Firm where she draws from her defense litigation experience and her heartfelt handling of emotionally charged family legal matters to now assist injury victims.
Laurin is an innovative and accomplished attorney, skilled and respected in both written and oral advocacy. With well over 20 years in the legal field in varying roles and across different practice areas, Laurin brings to The Hamilton Law Firm her unique combination of experience, versatility, and compassion.
When she is not working for injured clients and their loved ones, Laurin is spending time with her own family. A lover of reading, live music, and travel, Laurin enjoys exploring new places with her husband and three daughters. Laurin is an amateur chef, and she enjoys watching true crime documentaries and being in, on, or near the water.
